Weathered by Philden Showcase #30

Another batch of HO Scale American outline freight cars are now weathered and available for sale!

Currently I am working through a large collection of U.S. outline models on behalf of a friend, whereby I am weathering each model and listing them for sale through my eBay store, and in turn paying him some money without the hassle of having to organise a table at a model railroad club sale day. It's a win-win situation for both out as we afford to go in new directions with our modelling. Anyway, here are just some of the highlights of what I have been up to since writing last year's book Model Railway Weathered Wonders, starting with the Southern Pacific slab steel flat car at the top which has actual steel spikes added to the side pockets. And of course, if you feel inspired to do some weathering of your own, the book is still available through the link here.

Union Pacific 50'-foot box car with sliding doors.

This Southern Pacific flat car has the timber deck hand painted with various timber shades.

This Southern Pacific outside brace box car has the wood distressed and paint peeling from the roof.

Another wood sided freight car, this time a CB&Q braced 2 bay coal hopper.

While this Santa Fe 4 bay coal hopper is lightly weathered, except for the coal dust inside the well.

And keeping with the theme of old and brown, a North Western Pacific 40'-foot wood box car.

All of these are available now through the eBay link below. In total there are currently around 30+ weathered models available for sale, along with some other U.S. outline kits and rollingstock. All are reasonably priced simply to move them on. But keep an eye out in the coming weeks for a big announcement as I make some decisions about moving on my own collection. Those first-in are going to get a one-off opportunity to buy some exquisite models!
